New Providence is a borough located in Union County that is home to a population of approximately 12,000 residents. Due to the borough’s location along the western slope of the Second Watchung Mountain, residents enjoy a beautiful landscape year round. Over 9% of the land area in New Providence is protected, publicly owned parkland.
Transportation is easily accessible to residents who commute to work or for those who want to travel around the state or in Manhattan with ease. The New Jersey Transit has several bus routes through the borough and two train lines serve the area as well.
In regards to education, the New Providence school district serves younger residents from pre-kindergarten through the twelfth grade. Students attend public elementary, middle, and high schools. These schools are Allen W. Roberts Elementary, Salt Brook Elementary, New Providence Middle School, and New Providence High School. There is an option for students to attend a Catholic school located in the borough, which serves students through the eighth grade.
The Village Shopping Center takes up most of the downtown area of New Providence, and is a fantastic commercial hub offering residents a wide variety of goods and services. Additionally, there are plenty of restaurants located throughout the area.
