Jersey City is located in Hudson County and is currently regarded as the second most populous city throughout all of New Jersey. It is part of the New York City metropolitan area, making it ideal for those commuting to work in the city. Jersey City has a strong public transportation system that includes buses, a light rail, and access to the PATH. Additionally, there is access to a ferry to get to New York City.
There is a high level of cultural diversity in Jersey City, making it a great place to discover new eateries and experience new cultures. Several arts and music festivals take place in Downtown Jersey City throughout the year, giving residents the chance to bring their families out to experience foreign cuisine, music, and art.
In regards to education, Jersey City Public Schools serve students of all ages. Academy I Middle School and Frank R. Conwell Middle School #4 are both part of the academic enrichment program for gifted students, as is Alexander D. Sullivan P.S. #30, which serves younger students from pre-kindergarten through the fifth grade. Dr. Ronald E. McNair Academic High School is one of the several high schools available to students from the ninth through the twelfth grade and is ranked second out of all public high school in New Jersey. Aside from the several public and private elementary and high schools in the area, Jersey City is also home to two colleges – New Jersey City University and St. Peter’s University.
There are also several museums and libraries located throughout the area – one of the most popular being the Liberty Science Center, an interactive science center that is also home to an IMAX theater.
